Great list! I have another to consider that I personally have 35+ years experience providing. Clean up litter outside commercial properties on foot using inexpensive hand tools. It’s almost as easy to do as going for a walk! I started doing this as a side gig in 1981 and soon grew it into a profitable full-time business. I share my experience in my book, Cleanlots.
Hold a yard sale. If you have a yard or garage and plenty of items to sell, you can have a yard sale as early as tomorrow. By advertising your sale on local Facebook pages and Craigslist, you can also skip the paid newspaper ad and keep all of the profits for yourself. If you don’t have time to price everything, try asking patrons to “make an offer” or grouping similar items on tables with an advertised price (e.g. everything on this table is $5).
Almost every city and town in the U.S. has a Facebook group dedicated to buying and selling random objects open only to people who live in the area. This can be safer than selling items on Craigslist since you will almost always have a Facebook account tied to the transaction. Facebook has even facilitated these groups recently by adding certain features to these “garage sale” groups.

But in a few work at home jobs like proofreading, it’s in your best interest to get an in-depth training first and know the ins and outs of the job. Here are really great resources for that. If you’re a skilled worker in a specific niche, like marketing, design, or software development, there are specialty marketplaces that cater just to you. These are amazing places to make money online as you know that the people visiting them are looking specifically for the skills you have. Check out places like 99Designs or Dribbble for designers, Cloudpeeps for marketing and SEO professionals, and TopTal, Crew, or Gigster for high-level software developers. Once you've built up your development skills, you can begin building a brand for yourself as a higher-value consultant and start charging brands for larger projects like implementing an entire WordPress security overhaul or migrating a website from http to https.
Using Fiverr is a great way to pick up work. Once you have signed up you can advertise your services. Fiver allows you to create your own gigs, whether you are offering web design, digital marketing, writing, or something else. You can choose how much you want to charge (it can be more than a fiver) and people will then contact you if they are interested in working with you. Fiverr will not only help you get experience if you are just starting off as a freelancer, but it will also help you earn some extra cash.
Finding items at a garage sale that are worth significantly more than what you paid for it can be tricky, but can be done almost every weekend during warm months. You want to stick to items that make it worth your while to resell them. Taking the time to market a 50 cent figurine that sells for $5 is not worth it as opposed to a $50 cabinet worth $150. Just because there is large margin does not always mean it would be smart to resell it.
It was grueling, but it paid off. Eventually, Zubia had a 2,800-item catalog of designs, slogans, and illustrations online that people could purchase on T-shirts and hoodies. That work spurt earned him $120,000—enough to move out of his parents’ house and buy his own home in El Paso. Even more remarkable, he’s still pocketing roughly $3,000 a month today from those years-old designs.
Robo-advisors are diversified investment accounts that are automatically managed by a computer algorithm (as opposed to a human money manager). If you want to invest, but don’t have the money, or don’t want to invest with a money manager, robo-advisors are for you! Robo-advisors make investing easier—and cheaper—so they’re perfect for new investors.
As an author and owner of several businesses including profitable online ventures, I feel like an authority when I say that this little book is right on the mark when it comes to making money on the internet. It is not a get rich quick book or a book loaded with schemes and selling lotions, potions and pills while at the same time alienating you from your friends, neighbors and relatives because you have to bother them so much about joining this or that. This book is a simple to understand, easy to follow book that has effective techniques for making a profit from home or anywhere in the world. It discusses myths and distorted facts. It straightens it out and leads you into the right direction. It tells of the ways to make money from home and then shows you how to do it. It doesn't offer guarantees or magic. It just tells you step by step what you would need to do to build your own financial success from home. This is a great start in the right direction. If you ever think about making money from home, get this book.
It is possible to make money with online selling. Small in-house operations and large chain retailers have made big profits in e-commerce. But it'll serve you to manage your expectations. You may not get rich, but you can build a successful side business that could potentially translate into full-time income down the line. Either way, selling online requires just as much work and savvy as running any other business. You'll need to find ways to source your products, market yourself on the Web, attract customers, build and maintain a customer base, and manage a secure and reputable Web space.
There are a variety of tasks that you may be asked to perform. This can include delivering documents, delivering food or restaurant meals, taking pictures of a building for a real estate developer, taking pictures of a menu in an upscale restaurant, or even delivering auto-parts. If you have a good working car (or even a good bicycle), time on your hands, and a lot of energy, this can be a real opportunity to make money online.
Be professional. When you submit a résumé, don’t type it in ALL CAPS and please don’t avoid the caps lock like the plague. Know how to use it without looking incompetent. Write in complete sentences with proper grammar. Of course, there will be exceptions, but even with the exceptions, you must keep it professional. You’re building their view of you.
Other ways to monetize your writing include selling affiliate marketing through programs such as Amazon Affiliates. Bloggers place an affiliate link for the product on their site, and whenever a visitor buys a product by clicking on that link, they will be credited with a sale and make a commission. Bloggers can also sell advertising space, earning higher rates for more visitors.
E-books represent about 20 percent of all book sales in the U.S. The good news is you don’t have to be a publisher with deep pockets to get in on the action. As a solo internet entrepreneur, you can sell ebooks directly from your own website. You can sell your own works or sell a public domain work. Simply upload it to your website (or seller account on Amazon) and start publicizing it on your social media platforms, on your email list, your blog, website, etc.
If you're looking to address some immediate financial needs, then the app economy is likely right for you. Another way to utilize your talent and business skills is to run corporate workshops online. Businesses are always looking for unique ways to help educate their workforce, and if you can package your talents into a day or half-day long session, you can sell that to companies all over the world to make money online. Start by building a portfolio and then reaching out on LinkedIn to influencers at relevant companies to see if they would be interested in you teaching their team.
2.Be Willing To Be Different: Don’t base your decisions upon what everyone is saying or doing. When Warren Buffett began managing money in 1956 with $100,000 cobbled together from a handful of investors, he was dubbed an oddball. He worked in Omaha, not Wall Street, and he refused to tell his parents where he was putting their money. People predicted that he’d fail, but when he closed his partnership 14 years later, it was worth more than $100 million. Instead of following the crowd, he looked for undervalued investments and ended up vastly beating the market average every single year. To Warren Buffett, the average is just that — what everybody else is doing. to be above average, you need to measure yourself by what he calls the Inner Scorecard, judging yourself by your own standards and not the world’s.
If you’ve got a way with words and expertise in a niche, there are plenty of sites that will pay for articles and content you write. Think of the sites you read regularly. What can you contribute to them that would be interesting? Research your niche and then look for ways to pitch articles. Many sites will simply have a submission or contact link in the footer. To get started, check out my full guide to becoming a freelance writer on the side and then submit your articles to places like Instash, Listverse, TopTenz, A List Apart, International Living, FundsforWriters, and Textbroker.
According to a 2006 ACNielsen study commissioned by eBay, 1.3 million individuals used the site as a primary or secondary source of income worldwide. The figure for the United States was around half as many. But the study didn't parse out how much money each of those 1.3 million individuals make, or how many of them use eBay as their "primary" as opposed to "secondary" source of income [source: Gross].
Matched betting is when you make use of the free bets and promotions that Bookmakers give out from time to time. It’s a type of hedge betting where you place bets on all outcomes of certain sporting events. If you follow the instructions correctly and don’t make any silly mistakes, you could earn yourself an extra £800 to £1500 per month with Matched Betting.
Unused space, such as a garage, can be better than climate controlled storage units for someone looking to store enough furniture to fill a home. If you are not going to use your garage space, consider renting it out to someone who could store their stuff there either long or short-term. Some storage units require at least a three month contract, making a private residence an attractive choice for someone who only needs a place for their things on a month or two basis.
If you can find and restore items like furniture and appliances, you can make a substantial amount of money. You can acquire the items on Craigslist, or even at garage sales or estate sales, restore them, and then list them for sale on the site. You may also be able to market certain items on eBay, particularly if they are small, unusual, but high in price.
So don’t forget, you can do this with nothing but an internet connection and NO Cash. Your going to have to put some time in though, I spent 2 or 3 hours everyday. I just got hooked on the whole idea and all earnings were paid directly to me on time monthly. It has stood the test of time and as I can see always will. Affiliate sales are a fantastic way to make some terrific money online.
The legality of such schemes is often a matter of extreme controversy. These online get-rich-quick schemes cannot be described as illegal outright scams since the majority do send an end product to the user, but they do employ severely misleading sales tactics in order to get victims to sign up. Users should always be aware when signing up for schemes online that promise to show the route to financial freedom, especially if there is an initial investment to be made.
While you will probably not find a coin worth $50,000+ in your pocket change, you could very well come across coins that are valued at anywhere between 5-500 times its face value. Quarters made before 1964, Indian head pennies, and many other older coins are worth far more than their numismatic value. Older coins that are in extremely good condition can also have a higher intrinsic value.
Provide excellent customer service. Answer any questions buyers post as quickly as possible. Be professional and courteous. Positive communication builds your reputation with buyers and gets you return business. Also, package your product well and ship it out quickly. Allowing an item to become damaged or taking too long to ship can negatively affect your reputation among buyers. Wrap all items, especially fragile ones, in appropriate packaging. Commit to shipping items as soon as you receive payment.
Dating sites and apps are extremely popular and have become more and more niche as the industry develops. They can also be very profitable, as there are many ways to monetize them. You simply choose the niche and branding for your new dating site. Once your website goes live, you just need to promote it, manage the users, and collect the earnings.

Start by taking other courses you’re interested in: Not only is this important competitor and opportunity analysis, but it also gives you an idea of how a course could or should look and feel. What’s the pacing like? Is it via email, video, in-person chats? Once you understand how you want your course to look, it’s time to decide what it should include. Those same courses are a great starting place. How can you make your course better or more interesting? Do you have experience others don’t?
If you have a job where you do not regularly put in 40 hour weeks, it might be possible to pick up an extra shift or two to make some extra money. This is most often seen in the restaurant business where there are usually dozens of servers working throughout the week, making it likely at least one person will need someone to cover their shift. Weekend and evening restaurant shifts are usually picked up by coworkers quickly since the crowds tend to be larger, leading to more tips.
Build up a following on your Instagram account and you could quickly be making extra money online. Major brands, gear companies, and even startups are willing to shell out $500-$5,000+ per post to get in front of your audience. While it’s getting harder and harder to build a massive Instagram audience, if you already have a solid niche and are posting quality content regularly, with a few small tweaks you can make yourself an influencer. Check out this awesome article from Shopify on how to build and grow your Instagram following to get started.
I’ve mentioned ProofreadAnywhere.com ProofreadAnywhere.com on my blog before, in part because it’s such a great opportunity for anyone who wants to work from home as a proofreader. The founder, Caitlin Pyle, began her Proofread Anywhere blog after being a freelance proofreader long enough to know that this was a viable income opportunity. She didn’t see anyone else teaching how to do it, so she decided to do it herself.
Want to find clients? Check out the list below. Also, look up freelancers in your niche. You can use LinkedIn to find out who freelances. What brands do they work with? Often times, brands work with multiple freelancers. Feel free to send a cold email out to the brand asking if there are any opportunities for freelancing available. If they’re not interested at the time, they might reach out to you in the future.
19. eBay – Of course you can’t read an article about making money online that doesn’t mention eBay. You can start an eBay store and get serious about it or you can just sell some stuff to declutter your home. Either way, I’ve made my fair share from selling on eBay and it’s still a popular way to earn money. If you decide to start an actual eBay store, you’ll want to find a drop-ship business like Doba that will store and ship items straight to your customers so you don’t have to deal with an inventory.
Substitute teachers are usually called in to work at K-12 schools on a preferential basis. The substitute who is on their list the longest usually gets called first, with the school administration going down the list until they fill all of the spots for the day. If you have specialized knowledge in a certain field, you can request to only be called for a certain class, but you may want to get on several substitute lists in your area.
Rent out a room on Airbnb. Living near a tourist area has its perks, including the prospect of renting out a room for a profit.
